Nelson and Faith’s wedding was the closest I got to photographing a celebrity wedding. Nelson and Faith are not necessarily celebrities themselves, but both serve the acting community, including a few a-list actors everyone would know if their names were mentioned.
They blessed me with the opportunity to cover their wedding, and I chose this photograph as my favorite because I think it captures the happiness these two had on this day. This image was taken during their first dance, and I thought the spotlight brought a celebrity like feel to Nelson and Faith. One of my favorite things to do in a wedding is use the Videographer’s light, and this is what happened here. I love rim lighting and whenever I see a video light or someone else using a flash, I love to use it in my images. I shot this image on film too, which made it even more special.

Vinnie and Eileen, two people whom my wife and I dearly love. Vinnie allowed me to be his roommate before I married Lindsay, and Eileen and Lindsay have known each other for quite some time. Interestingly enough, it was our wedding that kicked off Vinnie and Eileen’s road towards marriage. At least I like to think that we played a main role in their relationship! Anyway, they asked me to photograph their wedding, and I was honored. This photo is my favorite, and I shot it on Fuji Pro 400h film. The photo was taken at the beautiful Brand Park in Glendale, California. It’s a lovely place to take photos, but a permit is required and the guards will check!

This image came from my very first beach wedding in Malibu, California. Will and Jen, who were recommended by my previous couple Aaron and Viergeni, approached me and asked if I could photograph their wedding. I graciously accepted, and I obviously enjoyed myself because the formals started in beautiful light, otherwise known as magic hour. I love this shot of Jen, but I must admit, the clouds were processed into the image. I’m usually a purist when it comes to photography, but for this image, I felt that Photoshop could enhance it. There was not a single cloud in the sky in the original image, but I remember another shot I made from a previous engagement shoot and it made the photo that much better in my opinion.

Aaron and Viergeni blessed me with my very first paid wedding in 2009. This photo was taken during their engagement shoot at Travel Town Museum in Glendale, California. On a very hot day and in very light clothes, they were kind enough to sit on train tracks while my wife was off to the side with a reflector shining more light in their direction. I love this picture, and it is definitely still one of my favorites today.
This photo came from the second wedding I photographed. My cousin Elisabeth and her Fiance, Levi, was kind enough to allow me to photograph their wedding in Flagstaff, Arizona, even though I was extremely new to the business. I managed to capture this portrait of Elisabeth in a tiny room at the church. In addition to the digital images, I also shot a few rolls of film, and this image was shot on film. It seems like every time I work with film in a wedding, the images I produce from film are often better than my digital images.
